| history | The Leicester Sunday Football League is the oldest established league in Leicester, originally being formed in 1961 as The Leicester & district sunday football League providing open age football on sunday afternoons.
In 1974 it was joined by The Leicester '74' Sunday football League which provided football on sunday mornings.
In 1989 it became THE LEICESTER SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
Since then open age football on sunday afternoons has disappeared, but the league continues to thrive, providing open age football on sunday morning for clubs in and around Leicester.
the league will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in sunday football in 2011.
