Southampton & District Tyro League

Welcome to the official web site for the Southampton and District Tyro League.

The Southampton and District Tyro League is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association and currently has 64 member clubs to it's names, with 229 teams competing in the league each Sunday through out five age groups.

The league was formed back in 1967, and since it's formation; has grown year after year, now with over 4,000 athletes playing each Sunday in the area, competitive football from ages from Under 11s - Under 15s.

The league has also experienced talents under it's banner, many progressing to professional football; Darren Anderton, Andrew Surman, Graham Roberts and Wayne Bridge to name a few.

The league has a dedicated team of officers and members of the Management Committee which ensure the smooth running of the league through it's respective seasons. The league run with the officers of seven with an additional sixteen positions available on the Management Committee.

Several committee's have been formulated to report back to the main committee of various operations through out the league. The Fixture & Cup committee, headed by Mr. Bruce Moffat ensure the smooth running of fixtures and cup competitions through out the season. Our Registration Committee, headed by Mr. Tony Moffitt overseas the registration of players to the league and our Finance Committee, headed by Mr. Matt Taylor which records the expenditure and incomings of the league's finances.

Our Breach of Rules committee, headed by Mr. Bruce Moffat ensures a fair disciplinary structure across all five age groups.

The league also run two cup competitions through out the season; Southampton Tyro Challenge Cup and Tommy Traynor Trophy. The competitions conclude with a final at the end of April, beginning of May.

The playing season for 2009/2010 will commence on the 6th September, concluding on the 30th April.
