Biography | Mikes interest in football goes back to the sixties as an amateur player and his passion for Wolverhampton Wanderers. His interest particularly in junior football was re-kindled in the early eighties when his son started to play so he decided in 1984 that he would reform a junior club known as Stafford Falcons, starting out with two under 10s teams who joined the local boys league in 1984/85.At their height Stafford Falcons run a total of fifteen teams in the mid nineties from under 10s to 16s and won many honours during that period at local and county level.
In season 1986 Mike was elected as Chairman of the boys league but soon realised the league needed a complete overall and re-branding and campaigned for many years to change the title of the league from its former name of Rugeley & District Boys League to the Mid Staffs Junior League to enable them to attract more teams from a wider catchment. This change was eventually passed by the Staffordshite Football Association in 1996 and the league did grow in size as a result of the name change.
In the late eighties through the nineties and into the early 2000s Mike continued in his role as Chairman/General Manager of Stafford Falcons,at the same time he was a team manager and the clubs development manager until work commitments/overseas travel forced him to stand down as a team manager/development manager.
He is now in his twenty-third season as Chairman of the two league and his twenty-fourth season as Chairman of Stafford Falcons.During his time as League Chairman/Club Chairman ha has always maintained ha has very well supported by hos committee colleagues at both league and club level and thats why it has been a job he has both enjoyed and been honoured to hold for all this length of time.
Along with committee colleague Bob Garside he pioneered the mini soccer concept for the Mis Staffs Junior League which has proven to be very successful
with more than fifty teams now completing each weekend of the season ,plus its a greta feeder into the eleven-a-side game for young boys and girls.
