MDWFA match reports for publication in the Northern Scot newspaper.

Reports must be put in by the home club for every league and cup match throughout the season. Failure to do so will incur a fine by the MDWFA.

These reports must be sent in by lunchtime on the day after the match was played. For example, the deadline for a Sunday afternoon match will be Monday noon. Last season some clubs needed prompting by email or text, and weren't getting reports in until Tuesday or Wednesday at least. That won't happen this season, if a report hasn't been received by the following day the league will be informed and nothing will appear in the paper that week.

Email is the preferred way to send these reports. It means they can be sent in at any time, and is best for getting player names spelled correctly.

From now on send all emailed reports to c.christie@northern-scot.co.uk . The sport@northern-scot.co.uk address no longer applies.

If fax is easier, our number is 01343 545629. Or phone during office hours (9am - 5pm) on 01343 548777, asking to speak to Craig Christie.

The minimum requirements for a report are as follows:

Full time result, and goalscorers of BOTH teams with Christian and surnames - no nicknames. Also names of players sent off on either side. Failure to get your opponents' goalscorers also incurs a MDWFA fine, so make sure you get this information right after the match. Please check with your opponents to make sure you have the right information. If the other team doesn't turn up at the pub for sandwiches afterwards, that's not a valid excuse. If this does happen, you should have contact details for all clubs so you can call someone.

We would like more than just the bare essentials if possible. Additional info you might include would be the half time score, the order of the scoring and a description of each goal, what time in the game it was scored. Mention penalty kicks, scored and missed, name of goalkeeper if he saves one or even if he has an outstanding game with several good saves. Or supersub comes on and changes the game with a goal or major play in the match. Any unusual incidents or bad injuries, by all means include these as well. But no criticism of the referee, please, as this won't get published.

Example of minimum requirement report: Green Wanderers 3, Red United 2. John Smith (2) and Joe Bloggs (penalty) scored for Green, Jim Black and Billy Brown scored for Red.

Or you could expand to this: Green Wanderers 3 Red United 2. Red began the match on top and opened the scoring on fifteen minutes when Jim Black headed home a Donald McDonald cross. Just before half time the visitors added to their lead with a 30 yard shot from Billy Brown which went in off the post, putting his team 2-0 ahead at the break. Green got their act together in the second half, and John Smith volleyed home to make it 2-1 after 60 minutes. The home team were awarded a penalty for handball on the goal-line ten minutes later. Red defender Tommy Turner was sent off and Joe Bloggs scored from the spot to equalise. Some good saves by Andy Anderson kept Red on level terms until five minutes from the end when Smith headed home the winner after good play from Willie West.

I'm sure each club will have a designated 'reporter' for their home matches, and they will become our contact for the season. But please remind this reporter to pass his duties on to someone else when he or she goes on holiday or misses a match for any reason. Please also tell us if your match is postponed, and why it was called off.

Reports were very good last season but there were one or two who let it down for the rest. Please don't let that happen in 2011, keep the reports coming in regularly and there will be excellent coverage of the league in the Northern Scot every week of the campaign.

If you have any news from your club outwith what happens on the pitch and feel it would be worth a story, get in touch. New manager, star player signing for junior club, long serving player gets benefit game - we like to know about these things.
