Meeting: Tuesday 16th June 2009

Thanks to everyone for coming along last night - hope you all got home safe and sound.

It was good to renew acquaintances and welcome new faces into the fold - Tim from Harpenden Rovers, Tony from Old Minchendenians and John from Knebworth.
Since our meeting, as you'll see above, I've now included Darren at MBDA in the circulation list - as of this morning they've agreed they will be joining us next season so we have a league of nine. In hindsight, when I looked at the sample fixture list I issued, ignore the yellow bits! I'd obviously done the original dates in green assuming a league of 9, not 8, so I mistakenly added the yellow weeks later without realising I'd already allowed for the extra team. The nice thing is, with 16 fixtures each, that is exactly half of the available weeks in the year, leaving everyone plenty of free space to play friendlies, do cups, etc, should they wish. Now we know MBDA are joining us, I'll work out fixtures over the weekend, but the actual dates won't change if you do want to get on with arranging other games in the meantime. I stress again, however, I do this only to try and help - each team is perfectly at liberty to change dates should you wish, although in getting the fixtures out early, I hope it will prove easier for you to work your other games around the league. I attach an amended copy of the dates issued last night - I've deliberately loaded the fixtures towards the earlier part of the season, so there are a few weeks left at the end to slot in any postponements.

If you could all let me have the names and details for a second point of contact, I already have an Excel file made up, so I'll update it and then circulate so everyone will have two contact points for all teams as we agreed. Given a couple of teams are likely to be changing pitch, please let me have precise details of any changes which I'll incorporate into the same file. Also, I know a couple of people have changed mobiles and e-mails, so it would probably be sensible to reconfirm your own details at the same time, so the list I am to issue will be bang up to date.

I've kept the minutes from last night fairly brief, but I trust they cover the salient points - however, please let me know if I've missed anything obvious or misinterpreted the conclusions we reached. Rather than duplicate the same information, I've simply taken the points discussed and updated the rules to incorporate the changes, all as per the attachments herein. A quick PS in hindsight on the opposition pitch rule - even if the game is switched, the home team should still treat it as a home game, otherwise we'll start to run into problems.

Regards last year, firstly, John, thanks for the mail regards Knebworth's results - brilliant! Nice, concise, easy to read - perfect! I obviously have access to Saints results so can update those without any trouble, but if you could all confirm results from the gaps on the list issued last night, I will finally get out the league table. For the record, it now seems at a quick glance that Sandy have an unassailable lead and are therefore Champions, but I'll confirm in due course.

Andy Kilvington (via e-mail).
