YEP Report for matches playe on 14/03/2010

Headline: Back to league business

After a number of cup weeks and postponements, the majority of teams were back to league action. Both leagues titles are still up for grabs and it doesn’t seem like any of the front runners are giving up without a fight. In the Premiership, current leaders AFC Waggon made light work of Northern Star. 4 nil was the final score but it could easily have been double figures. An Ian Patchett brace, a Pete Beane tap in and a bullet header from player manager Dave Beane were enough to clinch the points. Michael Toney & Mark Ryan scored the pick of the goals as champions Old Bridge breezed passed Elford 5-nil.

Other results in the top flight saw New Saints claim a convincing victory against Republica Inter. Scott Kirk, Wayne Wardell and a brace from Shane Hanson for the Saints. Ross Bibby with a consolation for Inter. A Daniel Dodsworth hat-trick put pay to Hawksworth’s title dreams as a rampant Wood hit them for six. Mark Potter, Daniel Hornegold and Bradley Kerr with the other goals. Thorpe grabbed a brace for Hawksworth.

In the first division, a top of the table clash was unsurprising close. It was leaders JB Celtic who extended their lead over Queenswood who are struggling of late. Richard Feltham & Matty Dalton netted for Celtic, Matt Day for the visitors.

In the other matches, a Robert Isles brace for Rodley Barge put pay to Destiny as the home team ran out 5-2 victors. Royal Oak and Shaftesbury shared the points in a one all draw.
