In terms of the result, 4 - 0 to The Lighthouse. In terms of the goal - great praise and worship in the changing rooms prior to kick off - evangelism to the core!  Folk had church who never get to enter those buildings built especially for believers on a Sunday. We had church in the changing rooms - PG!

South African Christian Football Association (SACFA) Cape to Cairo Tournament

The tournament will be played over two Saturdays, the 5th and 12th of June. The semi-finals played on Monday evening the 14th  and the final on Tuesday evening the 15th of June.

HCSL Teams Selected: (1) Jubilee  (2) Victory (3) Grace United  (4) Broken Pieces  (5) Mactonians  (Stand-bye Team: Erija Swallows)

Registration Fee: (R 300.00 per team – here we trust God for our finances!)

Tournament Program/Format

Day matches - Saturday 5th and 12th of June – Kick-Off 10:30 AM
 
1 - Qualifying Rounds (Saturday 5th June – 10:30 AM Kick-Off) (HCSL To Play at Macassar)

Each team will play three matches on the first Saturday (5th June).

Games will commence at 10h30 sharp and be played 20 minutes a side. Two minutes rest time will be provided between two halves.  At this stage of the tournament there will be no extra time should the teams be locked in a draw.

Three points will be awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss.

The top two teams in each group plus the four best ‘3rd placed’ teams will qualify for the next round of games.

Eight teams will be eliminated at the end of this stage of the tournament.  

2 - Knock Out Stage (Saturday 12th June – 10:30 AM Kick-Off)

Here the losing teams will be eliminated.

Games will have two halves of 30 minutes each.

Teams winning their first game will qualify for the Quarter-final stage. This game (quarter-final) will also be played on this day - 2nd June.

At the end of 60 minutes, if teams are tied, 10 minutes of extra time will be played each way. If teams are still tied, then 5 penalties will be taken by each team to decide the winner. If teams are still tied after the penalties then sudden death penalty rule will apply. This rule will apply to all knock out games.

Night Matches - Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th of June – Kick-Off 7:00 & 8:00 PM respectively  

3 - Semi-Finals (Monday 14th June - night matches – 7:00 PM Kick-Off)

The semi-finals will be played 35 minutes each way. Should scores be tied, 5 penalties will be awarded to each team to decide the winner. If scores are still tied after the 5 penalties then sudden death penalties will decide the winner.  

4 - Final (Tuesday the 15th of June – night match – 8:00 PM Kick-Off ) played 28th July

The finals will be played 40 minutes each way. Should scores be tied, 5 penalties will be awarded to each team to decide the winner. If scores are still tied after the 5 penalties then sudden death penalties will decide the winner.

 

*** 14 June, Monday - A Soccer managers and coaches’ workshop will be held at the Muizenberg Community Centre.   A high profile German delegation, including Mark Geissbauer (former player, manager and now Director for Sports in Germany) will speak about running a successful club the German way. Refreshments will be served and each person will receive a free handbook.

*** 15th June, Tuesdy – Free Breakfast Leadership Presentation – German contingent

*** 18th June, Friday – Presentation/Trophies Medals etc. A Big Bash by Martin Riesch the German rapper and 5 local acts – to bring down the players – Joseph Stone Auditorium, Jan Smuts Drive & Klipfontein Roads, Athlone 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm R20 ticket to cover the cost of the paraphernalia – about 500 folk expected.

N.B. The Program is subject to marginal changes by SACFA. However, Leagues/Teams will be notified.
