Sundays (10th Oct) KO Semi-Final was strongly competed for by Jubilee in the first half who went ahead as early as the 18th minute and looked poised to slot a few more away except for some poor finishing. Jubilee was unfortunate to lose the services of one of their stalwart defenders late into the first half which did have a bearing on their defence.
At the change over however, Jubilee went into a defensive mode that they had no need to do as they were all over Mactonians in the first half. This defensive and playing deep error cost them dearly. Mactonians were permitted to play deep into their defence and took full advantage of the situation slotting home an inevitable equaliser in the 25th minute of the second half.
Unfortunately for Jubilee, the equaliser did not do enough for them to pick up their game up and appeared to be losing a little momentum as Mactonians had their tails in the air. Mactonians were not able to capitalise on this error by Jubilee and the match ended 1 – 1 after normal time.
The match was scheduled to be played an additional 10 minutes extra time each half and into penalties if still locked in a draw. However, due to the extreme late kick-off of this game, (almost as late as an hour) and with the light fading and the second semi-final match also having to be played, it was decided by the league leadership that in all fairness, the two teams waiting to play their match had to be afforded the opportunity to do so. Penalties were therefore taken immediately after the match and Mactonians went through to the Final 4 – 0.
