Match Reports for 13/3/10

Premier Division
Runwell Old Boys consolidated their position at the top with a 3-1 win over title challengers Dunmow, Hornsby, Whitney and an own goal scoring for them. Writtle slipped slightly in their campaign for honours as they succumbed to Old Parmiterians by 2-0, the goals coming from Thomas and Reading earned the points that helped Old Parmiterians get away from the bottom. Benfleet with goals by Bobbington, Markham and Shiel (2) beat lowly Herongate Athletic by 4-0 keeping them in the bottom three.

Division One
Herongate Athletic Res were unable to add to their solitary point gained this season as Frenford Senior took the game by 2-0. League leaders Shenfield were the visitors at White Notley and a late third goal by Collins gave them all the points in the 3-2 win, Maine and Dawes were the home scorers who still have games in hand to mount a challenge. Sungates charge for the top was swiftly halted by second placed Springfield who won 7-1, Girling notching the Sungate goal. Vichouse Sports also with games in hand are not out of the mix following the 5-1 defeat of Sporting Club Woodham, S Warner hit two goals, Hall, K Rich and S Rich the others as Arnold nabbed the lone response. Both Rochford Town and Maidonians are in peril at the bottom but neither progressed up the league as they drew 2-2, Brown and Blackwood hitting the Rochford Town goals.

Division Two East
In a niggly encounter at Hutton Old Boys a single goal by Gildea was enough for Witham CML to glean all the points and take a clear lead at the top of the league. Essex Police have run out of games to retain any hope of the title but a 9-0 demolition of basement side Silver End United did their goal difference no harm should promotion come down to that. Leigh Ramblers with a 2-2 draw against second placed Pavillion United secured a point to aid their relegation battle, Matthews and Kernott scored their goals while Ray and Humphreys netted for Pavillion United.

Division Two West
They needed a win to be almost unassailable at the top but the first dropped points by Met Police Chigwell in the 2-2 draw at home to West Essex means they will have to wait to take their crown, Williams notched both their goals. Ryan remain in second spot after overcoming Westhamians by 2-1, Morgan and Crane on target for them, while Driscoll hit the goal for the basement side. Mathematically Newbury Park can catch Ryan following their 2-0 win at Cricketers Horndon. The other two in the drop zone met and it was home side William Fitt who ran out winners as goals by Walsey and Ramsay helped them to a 4-2 win over Great Danes.

Division Three East
Any side from first to seventh could win the title in this division and the single goal by Selkirk which gave Great Baddow the narrowest of wins over leaders FOBS has levelled the field for them all. A Harris hat-trick and a3-0 win over Horndon means Chipping Ongar are in second spot, with Great Baddow now third. A 6-0 win at Doddinghurst Olympic Res for Dunmow Res means they are within striking distance should they win their games in hand. Two goals by Edwards added to those by Auvache and Dalley gave West Billericay a 4-0 win against White Notley Res. Which leaves both sides too far back to mount any challenge.

Division Three South
Ludlows march on at the top but bottom side Wickford Town made them work for the points and only just secure the 3-2 win. White Ensign still have hopes of promotion and a 6-0 demolition of basement side Benfleet Res helped their cause, Pitts hit a hat-trick, Merrell, Maynard and Rush made up the tally. A thirty yard screamer by McGrath, his second in the game plus goals by McPHerson, Vikirk and Trowers gave Hawkwell Athletic a 5-0 win over Hannakins Farm. A goal by Green enabled Ford Basildon Res to draw 1-1 with Leigh Town.

Division Three West
Top dogs Old Parmiterian Res were pulled back into the pack by challengers Grays Athletic, two goals by Beard and one from Bannister giving Grays a 3-2 win, Ballard scoring both for Old Parmiterians Res. Sanders kept themselves within touching distance of the top two as goals by Spraggon, West, Lucas and a pair from the boot of Crispin defeated West Essex Res 5-1. Hale End Athletic were hoping to get themselves well in the promotion race at home to Little Thurrock Dynamos but the away side found some cracking form to win by 7-0. Goals by Scott and Cook earned Hornminster a 2-2 draw at home to Sporting Club Henderson Res.
