League Rules - 2011/12

The Bristol Casuals League has enjoyed a steady growth in recent years and has grown to 60 clubs ranging from South Wales to Wiltshire and from Gloucestershire to Somerset. The overwhelming majority of players follow the league's ethos and it is important that all players are aware of the following in order that we continue to enjoy Casuals League football.

The league was set up to enable players who were a bit too old, fat or unfit to be playing for a 'proper' team to play regular football . Whilst games are always going to be competitive, teams should not have a 'win at all costs' attitude.

Rules:

  • AIl games should be played in a friendly but competitive manner. Excessive physical, sexual or racist abuse of opponents and officials is NOT ACCEPTABLE and there should be no swearing (Except at team mates when they have been completely incompetent!)
  • Minimum age criteria - Majority of players to be 35 plus. No more than 2 under age players allowed and then only if they are not ‘regular footballers’ and not able to dominate games. More than 2 can be fielded but only with agreement of both clubs
  • A 2 up 2 down promotion or relegation, UNLESS the divisions need alignment
  • Roll on roll off subs. No limit to number of subs. Substitutions to be made during a break in play and referee should be informed when substitutions are being made.
  • Games can be played on Astro Turf but only if both sides agree. Otherwise they need to be played on grass.
  • Women can be fielded in the same team.
  • Membership: £15 paid at AGM or within one month. This will increase to £30 if late payment.
  • Games should be played on the first Sunday of every month if possible.
  • Home side provides referee, both sides to provide an assistant referee.
  • Please make any committee member aware of excessive numbers of underage players or over competitiveness. Teams in breach of these rules may be asked to leave the league.
  • Home teams to submit result to the Web Site or appointed Results Secretary
  • League to be restricted to 60 teams from 2011/12, and only new teams accepted if existing teams drop out of the League
  • Each club is responsible for obtaining its own insurance cover.
  • Each club must provide TWO contact names and details and these will be displayed on the League’s Web Site
